Artswork is part of a national network of Arts Council England funded Bridge organisations. Our job is to ensure all children and young people experience the richness of the arts both in and outside of school. We work to ‘bridge’ together the work of arts and cultural organisations, schools and communities.

The Council has four overarching priority outcomes: driving economic growth; keeping vulnerable people safe; helping people help themselves; and making best use of resources. East Sussex County Council leads the delivery of a county-wide East Sussex Cultural Strategy which identifies reasonable steps which can be taken to better understand, support and grow the cultural sector.  The three identified priorities are complementary and interdependent: Create an environment where great cultural experiences are available to everyone to enhance their quality of life; Create an environment which enables the cultural and creative economy to expand and enhances our ability to attract and retain other businesses and Develop and promote well    packaged cultural tourism offers which celebrate the identity of East Sussex, raise its profile and attract more visitors and businesses to the County.

Hastings Borough Council is committed to improving the quality of life and wellbeing of all of its residents. We recognise our duty to be responsive to the needs of all who live and work in our borough and to do so in a way which respects cultural identity, providing equality of opportunity and equality of access to the means to live a healthy, fulfilling life. We will work in partnership with other bodies, whether statutory, public, private, voluntary or community to achieve this, whilst promoting our borough in an active and positive manner.
